Atelier OFFoff is an open programme initiative within Artcinema OFFoff building community and interaction around film, aiming to dissolve the boundaries between curator, artist and audience, treating curatorship as an ongoing, collaborative process of interaction rather than a singular moment of presentation.
Autumn Programme
In the first half of 2026, Atelier OFFoff conducted field research: we mapped the experimental film landscape, held conversations with organisations, and surveyed people about their needs and interests. What emerged was a strong interest in writing in relation to film, in curating but mostly in places to come together. A shared sense that something is missing; a structural space for encounter around experimental film.
This autumn, we translate that research into practice. Not with a ready-made answer, but by prototyping formats we want to sustain structurally as a first draft of what Atelier OFFoff can look like as an ongoing practice.
From 25 September to 18 December, we take up residence in Kunsthal Ghent as part of Temporary Centre for Shared Practices.
We organise four formats we want to keep doing & invite you to be part of it:
- an installation and practice conversation between curator & artist
- an open screening that builds a growing database of films for future recurring screenings
- a peer-to-peer session for makers with work in progress that as well builds a database of ongoing works
- a writing program that runs as a thread through the entire series.
All four are connected through the work of Magali Coremans, whose installation-prototype, part of her research project Holding Space Between Our Hands, serves as the starting point for the whole series. Atelier OFFoff wants to search for forms that make the shared space around cinema come alive. A place where people, films, writing and events interact and transform each other over time. A practice that keeps developing through the involvement and interaction of everyone who is part of it. This autumn is where that search first takes shape.
