OPEN SCREENING

Atelier OFFoff wants to build a shared collection of experimental film: a database of works(-in-progress) from the community that keeps growing and can be activated in different ways over time.

One way we do this is by hosting a recurring screening from that database, each time selected by someone different from the Atelier OFFoff community. The programmes are shaped by what is currently happening in Atelier OFFoff, by what questions are in the air, by what the selector thinks is worth putting in conversation with that moment.

Films are presented not as isolated objects but as things that exist in a network. Alongside the films, the things that formed them are also presented: notes, fragments, other people’s texts, a voice message, a picture, a written reflection from a peer-to-peer session from before. The connections and encounters a work carries with it, made visible.

Curating becomes something that circulates, a shared practice rather than something that belongs to one person or organisation. A screening serves as a point of interaction and the database becomes a resource.
